Today, three members, Mjs, Djw, Yihen, came back from Beijing together.
Mjs had joined in IJCNLP 2004, March 22-24, 2004 Sanya City, Hainan Island, China. As Dr.Tliu told us that Mjs had some heartquake at this conference, he will give us a report about his information on this meeting. We are waiting it.
Mjs brought us lots of special local product form Hainan island. And there were a lot of photos about his journey. Great! So beautiful is Hainan.

30 papers in our lab's BBS
30 papers in our lab's BBS. This was a highest record of our lab's BBS recent days. And I found out many coutomers of our BBS gave us lots of some difficult problems. But we could not answer them at once.
For example, there was a question about Tree Automata. First, I didnot know any about it. I found out some articles about it on Internet. And finally I understood that Tree Automata was suit for XML very much and could be used in the Text Processing. I had put it to be my next learning object.
And before, at Machine Learning Block there were not many readers. Recently I put the link of this block on the HIT-BBS. Right now, the number of readers of this block was increased. And there were some discusses of Machine Learning. It was good news for this block. I wished this block could be a better one for Machine Learning.
So good was our BBS. Keep our attention.

The main editor's teaching
Just fifteen minutes before our English class, I went to the newsroom of Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology. I only wanted to know how long my paper could be published.
The main editor was a kindness elder man. He found out my paper and reviewed it. He gave me lots of suggests about how to simplify my paper. Ago, my opinion about my paper's reader was some everyman. But the editor told me that the reader of the papers were experts in the same areas. When the experts fell across some difficults, they would find and read our papers. They needed and learn only the main points of our papers, not some redundant words. The reader model must be changed in my original opinion.
And he told me that I should cut my paper into four pages. And the publish order was related to how the author cooperated the editor.
He teached me and said,"You should learn how to write a high-level paper through this paper."

XueFu book Town
This afternoon, with one of my best friends, I went to the biggest book town of Harbin, XueFu book town.
It is a so big book store that I can find nearly any book here. But when tried to find a book of Grey System that was named as Grey System Theory and its application, there was not any of it, liked our campus book store.
However, with my friend's help I found a very good book named Chaos Time Serials Analysis and Its Application. It was wonderful. And I thought it could be used into our research areas. Because nature language was like chaos very much. Maybe there was some thing named as Chaos Language Study.
Learn it and use it.

A knid of spirit
There is a kind of spirit in the cartoon The Seven Dragon Balls.
I liked it when I was very young. I didn't know why I liked it so much! And last evening I luckly downloaded some volumes of The New Seven Dragon Balls.
Just as when I was very young, I excitly watched maybe seven volumes of it.
Finally I suddenly understood the spirit of the famous cartoon.
The leading actor, Mr.Sun Wukong(Just call him like this), is brave and endlessly challenge with himself, and with a pure-hearted, goodness heart.
All liked in the cartoon we could learned from the leading actor. We should keep on challenging withh ourself.
My current state is that I should practise my body more and more, and I should improve my English level, and I should learning lots of papers of TM, and so on.

GA Algorithm
GA Algorithm is great! With the copy, cross and variance it can be used into many many areas. And these years it is the hottest algorithm that is being used into the optimizing methods.
But it is not easy for me to understand its mathemathical principles. I have some problem in the Gene block suppose and the minimum cheat problem. Maybe it is because I have not read more times and more metarials about GA.
So wonderful the GA is. I'd like to learn it on and on.

Text Mining
These days I was learning many papers and articles about Text Mining.
First, I found some English materials about it. And I find out that it is very promising. It can be used into lots of NLP areas. But I have so many questions that I couldn't fully understand them. So I changed my way. I downloaded lots of papers from CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure). And after read through some of them I began to have some impression about Text Mining.
And between them I found out some significative things. There are some techniques to calculate the words' weights, for example, tf*idf can be used for this purpose. But I saw two other ways. But the basic thoughts are the same. The weights of words is proportional to the frequency that is in the whole corpus; and inversely proportional to the number of documents which include them. There are two other ways to calculate it. I think whether it is necessary to see about their validity of the given problem. May be it is needed.
The other significative thing is that Rough Set theory can be used in Text Mining. In the paper Methods for Information Extraction and Data Mining from Web the author used Rough Set theory to reduce the rule set of the mining results. But there is no detailed information about how they used RS for their application.
This evening, I was notified by Dr.Tliu to make a full study of TM and think about how to make full use of it.
It is a challenge for me to do so. I should try my best and never give up in a hurry.

Educational System in Australia
There was a wonderful introduction about the Educational System in Australia.
The speaker is an Austrilian. She's name is Pamela Downey.
The intruduction calss was not long, but the introduction was wonderful. I found out that the teacher's introduction was full with body language. She did the action as playing football, playing form of the children in some kindergarden, being afraid of some test, and so on. Her body language was so natural and effective that she made things hum around there. And her pronouncation was very standard. Her stress was very sound. Adn I liked it.
So if I want to make wonderful presentation, I must learn and practise the skills more and more.

MCM Award
These days are exciteing.
This morning, when I was having my breakfast, Hong Weijun, my MCM parter, phoned me that our team got the Honorable Mention of MCM. This was exciting news for us. I cast back my minds to the four days and nights that we had tried our best.
I looked up the final results of our school. This year our school got the best achievement throughout history. There were four teams got Meritorious, three teams got Honorable Mention.
I was proud of our school's achievement.

Sell secondhand books(2)
This morning, inorder to get better stall place, all my roomates got up at 6:00. When I got up at last, it was only 6:50. I also held two boxes' books to the stall place.
Conputer department's specialized books were best-seller. My roomats had sold lots of specialized books. Also, the books for graduate-exam are best-seller.
And as I must finish my English homeworks, I came back at 13:00. But when I came back to the lab, I was very tired and slept for nearly two and a half hours.
And when I came back to our dorm at 22:30, I found our dorm was in dark. All my roomats were sleeping, as very tired.
Indeed, it is very tired for us to seel seconghand books.

At this weekend, the secondhand campus market is very hot!!
This morning, my roomates picked up their secondhand books. At last three years, the secondhand market was along the Walking Street and near by the Third Apartment and A Building. But this year, it was not as usual. The students put their "stall" at the students' eatery and the campus bookstore.

The water knows the answer
This week's topic of our English Class is High-tech. This afternoon, our teacher gave us a presentation about the high technologu about water crystal.

So troublesome VBA in EXCEL
When I was processing a EXCEL sheet, I found that the works by hand was troublesome. So I wanted to use VBA, the built-in language in EXCEL. But when I wanted to solve the colomns' count, I had found for this function for three hours.
It is troublesome. But when I looked at the correct answer, I felt exciting.
This function could be relised by the following code:

The High-tech presentation
It is my turn to make the presentation about high-tech. I have prepared it two days. But when I come up to the platform I feel some strained.
This is my first chance to make presentation in English. And I prepared a wonderful powerpoint.
The outline of my presentation includes "What is high-tech?", "The survey conclusion of IEEE spectrum", "Biomolecular engineering", "Nanotechnology", " Robotics", "Information technology". And finally I give us a short film about Sony's robots' dancing.
The effect of this presentation is good, I think. But Mrs.zhang, our teacher, suggests me to improve my pronouncing stress. Thanks for Mrs.Zhang's suggest.

A rolling stone gathers no moss
A rolling stone gathers no moss. It is one of the manage ideas of BENQ. And it stirs me deeply.
This evening I joined in the 201 Forum. The speaker is the President of BenQ Corporation. When he told the manage idea of BENQ, he believed that a rolling stone gathers no moss, so we should keep updating ourself.
Soonly, I self-examinate. Formerly, I kept doing morning practice. And in that time I did all things in an orderly way. If I wanted to do some thing and after a detailed plan, I would manage it. But now, I find out some indolence of me.
I still remember that Qunyao Gao, the former general manager of Microsoft
China, came to HIT. In his speech forum, I brought one of his autobiography about Microsoft China. After I had read through his book, I found out that he liked doing morning exercice. In the morning running, he would consider his current day's plan and achieve an active mood.
So it is a nice habit. And I had ever kept on doing it for five and a half years. In these years I achieved some things. It is so good a habit. Why not keep on it? I must change my current daily life.

High-Tech

The coding problem
When I were making a index of a word dictionary, I found out that there are some Chinese word can not be found by my program. I debugged my program and found out that “伀”“冧”“啰”“揳”“曈”“洑”“洣”can not be found by the code standard GB2312-80. These Chinese words in the blank block of GB2312-80.
I found some papers related it by Google. And this problem can be solved by the code standard GBK or GB18030-2000.
Code problem do not easily catch everybody eyes. We should be careful about it. Specially when we see some random code.

Love&Marriage
The topic of our English class this week is Love&Marriage. Each of us should write a summary on this topic. And I find a lot of articles about it, and finally choose one to summarize.
But when I finished my summary I found out that it is a article by a priest. It was no wonder that I saw many vocabulary from the Bible.

The older basketball team
Like lastmorning, I went to the basketball field. There were some ice. And many people were playing. The difference was that one of my roommates was playing with me.
About twenty minutes later, one older man came here and played with us. We chatted on some topics. He told us that practice is the best way for rest. It could practise your eyes, muscle, purtenance, and your mood. We agreed with him.
About after one hour, the older man called some older men here. And we played together being devided into two parts: the yonger and the older. The older team included some older man who is more than seventy. They shot basket very well and truly. Our yonger team could not compete with their accuracy.
They were health and keeping practice.

The practising feeling in my heart
Mrs.Qin went to play badminton this noon. And when she came back, the practising feeling in my heart became strongly.
Yes. During these weeks, I had not doing practice often. Each time, when I saw some body doing morining exercise I feel that I should do morning exercise,too. But I cannot get up very early these days.
Changing my life law, I can do it.

Evaluation2
My recent task is to realizing Evaluation 2.
After fully consideration, I relized it by code. But there are lots of bugs.
I wanted to use map to sort some datas, but I hadn't masterd the internal mechanism of map.
But it's time to go back. I must go back with theis problem.

A little and terrible error in my C++ program
Benz asked me why there were some articles' name can not be find in my txt document.
First, I thought he would not use the name of my document instead use the path. And after this error, this problem was still with us.
And during my debuging my class, I found out that when there is some blanks in the title, my class's publick function can not find it correct.
So I printed out all the content that I put into the internal memory. After done that, I was astonished by the results. There were lots of random code. I tracked the running process, and finally I found out that I had wrongly used the fstream to input a line into the internal memory.
Such a little and terrible error!

Reading's feeling
We were listening the lecture FSNLP of Dr.TLiu this evening.
Tliu gives us a very wonderful lecture. In his PPT and oral speech I find some newly views and knowledge that I have never heard before. For example, language processing is different from language information processing. The former only stands on the form of information, the latter also processes into deeper layers. And there is a newly noun Ill-formed information. Some moths ago, I searched some information on non-normative knowledge processing. But I found few webpages about it. Now I have known the reason that '非规范' is ill-formed more usual than non-normative. Now I have a deeper impression that when you search something on Internet, you must know the accurate glossary.
I begin to understand how important of reading through the four books on FSNLP. I have stopped reading them for nearly half a month. They are great in NLP, like a bible of NLP. After I have read some of them, today I have deeper understanded the content of them. Why not keep on reading them?

So busy and rich day
Getting up earily and rushing to the lab, I begin my today's life like that.
This morning there is a paper review meeting,to discuss four papers. Although I read and modified three of them, I also left one. So I must read and give out my suggests to it.
With the classic English music, I finished the reading task. But the meeting had been posponed to this afternoon.
SO we have meeting this afternoon. And at 15:45 there is this week's English class. I ran to the classroom at Mechanical Building.
I set up my program on the teacher's computer. It is for random calling student for teacher. And it is useful and humorous during the class.
Reading the document from the English teacher is interesting this evening.
