Extensive reading

When we began to study English, our teacher told us that we should read more and more. At then, I could not understand teacher's word clearly. I believed that it was enough for us to read our text books.

Simply, who was my model of English studying, read so much. I often saw her with a English reading material.

These days I had been reading some books. They were about XML, Web Information Mining, Data Warehours and data mining, some papers about web knowledge acquisition. I found out that they were some universality between them.

It was interesting for me. Reading more and thinking more, then we could be with more innovation. I believed so.

XML studying

One of my recent tasks is studying XML and constuct a uniform representation for the text of NLP. There were two books on my table. After reading some content and searching some related material, I began to feel at a loss. Because there were so many material that could be consulted.

The main goal, I believed, could be a DTD or schema file for our representation. I should learn more and practise more.

Personal Management

Who is your life's manager? I believe the answer is yourself.

I had used OUTLOOK for my personal nice assistant for a long time. After mined the task management function of OUTLOOK 2003, I began to use the calendar and task manager for my personal tasks management.

From this afternoon, I began to organize all my tasks into OUTLOOK. It was a tired process. But I knew that sharpening your axe will not delay your job of cutting wood. I planed to check the everyday tasks for the next day in the evening and carried out it during the next day.

This was a more convinent process for my personal management. Before I took part in our lab, I used to use some simple notebook for personal management. That was little tiring. Right now, it was changed a lot. Good enough!

A Friend is....

Lantern festival dumplings

Today is the traditional Chinese festival day, i.e. Lantern festival dumplings. It's the birthday of Carl. It's also the first day of Chen Yiheng's Ph.D. candidate. So many good things! we all were very happy.

This evening, when it was 6:00, we all got together at Taifeng Hotel. After the dinner, some of us went to have songs, Gold, Zuoran and me came to play billiards. Gold and Zuoran played very good.

Three nice courses!

We have three new courses today. They are UNIX operating system design, Database Warehouse and data mining, Artificial neural network. They are nice to us.

To UNIX operarting system design, Prof. Liao Minghong gave us a short introduction about the UNIX development and told us the basic content of this course based on the operating system functions. It was interesting. Although I had not selected it, I would like to learn it.

The teacher of Database Warehouse and data mining is Mrs. Gao Hong, who is a member of database laboratory. Her first lesson was interesting also. But the slides were not gotten.

Prof. Li Haifeng was the teacher of Artificial neural network. I had known something about ANN. But there were many new knowledge of his lesson to me. He introduced much about the neural system and the development of ANN.

So nice courses!

Research Systematism

Today is our first day of new semester. All of us were excited.

After I finished my first two classes' Computation Theory, I came to the laboratory. Mrs. Qin called me to discuss something. She told me two things: guiding an undergraduate dissertation and modifying my research plan on anaphora resolution.

My annual draft plan included my research ideas about anaphora resolution. But they were only scattering points. I had not systemized them. Mrs. Qin gave me some suggestion on how to arrange them. Her hint was very important to me. I wanted to do deep research on anaphora resolution. The research method was very important. She was writing her Ph.D. thesis. She gave her experience to me. Many thank to her!

From March last year, I was single on anaphora resolution. This afternoon, I had an assistant. His name was HuangXu. I introduced the problems on anaphora resolution to him and decided to guide him doing perfect undergraduate dissertation. I had given him some simple tasks firstly. After three days I requested him coming here for check.

Two points, two chances. I must cherish them.

Anaphora resolution development

On the original research plan, I should annotate some anaphora relation corpus for my corpus-based research.

I have my plan of tagging one hour corpus every day recently. I tested it today and annptated 36 articles in one hour. This task is in very important role for me.

Blog更新

好些同学对我说过，访问我的blog时会提示添加一个3721的插件。有时我自己访问自己的blog也会遇到这种情况。仔细分析后，发现在blog中我曾经加入了一个太极链接的访问统计链接，我想一定就是它在作怪。今日决定彻底解决这个问题。

在网上查看了一些blog的修改方法，找到了Movable Type 使用手册，其中包含了很多的说明。参考这个文档，我将我的blog中的站点统计部分重新编制了一下。也就是现在的左侧中Site Stat部分。

原先我们使用的Movable Type 的版本都是2.64。这个版本不具备很好的防攻击功能。初步打算找个时间来升级版本，并且加入最终的防攻击插件。

　　充分的准备是任何事情都需要的，包括从心理状态到资料自如，从你对自己的态度到你与他人的关系。这样，当你需要时，他们就会积极地给予你帮助。

1、必要的物质准备。如果光盘和文件摆放得井井有条，你就可以在就几分钟内迅速查找到所需信息。以避免不能轻易地找到所需物品而放慢，甚至中断工作。

2、最好把便条固定地放在某个地方，或把它们收集在标有日期的日记簿里，以便能迅速地找到。

3、必须熟知可能遇到的所有组织程序。如果确有合理的程序，你就要找到它。如果没有，那么就该制定一个了。

4、足够的睡眠和合理而健康的日常饮食，是保持良好身体状况的必要准备。

5、把握时间灵活度，快速判断什么时候需要寻求更多的帮助。这样会使你按时赶到工作地点，实施工作计划；合理调整工作任务。

6、与你的同事建立了良好的关系，当你需要帮助时，他们愿意考虑为你提供帮助。而且，对上级主管和客户来说，你完成任务的情况必须一向很好，这样，当你迫不得已说“不”的时候，他们也能给予充分的理解。

7、预先作好一天的计划。你了解每项工作可能会发生的问题，并能采取预防措施，防微杜渐。只要可能，或许你昨天就能完成今天必须完成的任务。

8、喜欢并善于解决问题。当事情出了问题时，不会恐慌得坐立不安，也没有为最坏的情形吓倒。你考虑的是，为什么会出现这些问题，现在要做什么，以及今后怎样才能避免这个问题。良好的准备对你保持冷静极有帮助。

计划

来到学校几日了，但是前两天并没有开始撰写blog。我想花上一些时间思考一些问题还是值得的。

昨天看到了Tliu老师的blog。知道老师思考了很多问题，其中很重要的一点是对自己的定位问题。每次看Tliu老师的blog都会有一些想法，这次也不例外。

静坐常思己过。新的一个学期马上就要开始了，一个学期的计划需要马上制定好。几日来我在思考如何计划自己的2005。拟定计划之前，不禁想起了MSRA周明老师在学校礼堂上给大家说过的一句话，大意是说要大家经常总结自己，继续保持优点，不断改掉缺点。其实道理谁都懂，只是坚持起来很难。上午打开电脑开始拟定新的计划，一个寒假回来似乎大脑有些迟钝，迟迟进入不了状态。一个计划花去了一上午的时间。继承过去成功的方法和关键，融入新的任务。这个就是我一上午的工作。

计划没有变化快。这是在说计划往往执行起来很难，很多补不定因素很难考虑到。结合以往计划执行中存在的问题，这次我的计划充分考虑了各种情况。相信执行起来会很顺利。明日需要完善计划，撰写一个书面的版本。

48小时回到学校

初四晚上7点37，K117，妈妈来送我上火车。就这样，我开始了我的返校旅程。

火车上的时间是很难熬的，一个人在火车上着实无聊。只能和座位附近的乘客一起闲聊，有时还可以玩玩扑克。看着窗外的飞动的枕石，时间彷佛回到了2004年年初我返校的路上。看到这样的情形，我的感觉就是一样的。年年岁岁花相似，岁岁年年人不同。物未变，时间却不断逝去。

35小时后，也就是初六的早上五点半，火车到达终点站——北京西站。签票的时候非常顺利，我签到了早上8点半的T71。匆忙转车到北京站。在一个快餐店吃过早饭后又开始了北京到哈尔滨的行程。这趟T71不知道是什么原因，路上一会儿又停一下，一会儿又减速再加速，到达哈尔滨的时候晚点了近两个小时。火车上最后的几个小时最难熬，连续吃了几顿方便面，最后一顿吃下后胃里一直不是很舒服。到下车时几乎要吐出来了。

回到学校，已是晚上十点整。收拾收拾也就睡觉了。算来从家到学校就花了48小时。这是我几年来王往返学校和峨嵋最快的时间了。

过年

过年，对于每一个中国人来说都是具有非常重要的意义的。过年，每个 地方都有独特的风俗。我的家乡——峨眉山，也不例外。

春节联欢晚会在我们这里的的三十夜里的收视率我估计不会超过60%。因为晚上更多的人们愿意出去走走，到峨眉山上去烧烧香、凑凑热闹。晚上八点多，一位高中同学带着女友到我家来，说是一起去报国寺烧香。九点多，又来两个高中同学。约莫11点，我们一行五人，一起走向报国寺。

哦，对了，忘了介绍报国寺了。报国寺是峨眉山的开山之寺。这里每年的大年三十夜里都会有几万人来游玩，多数都是来烧香拜佛凑凑热闹。今年的三十夜也不例外。

约莫半个小时，我们走到了寺庙门外，。这里人潮涌动，到处是人。好不容易才挤进门去。依次经过弥勒殿、大雄宝殿、七佛殿，我们来到最后一殿——普贤殿。这里的人更多，因为峨眉山上最主要的菩萨就是普贤菩萨。在这里我们烧上了所有的香烛。我为父母、朋友、老师、实验室祝福！由于人太多，这里的香烛一般是放上去不到一分钟就会被取下来。

回忆起小时侯在报国寺附近100米左右那里的一年生活，再看看报国寺里现在的样子，不得不感叹寺里的变化。七佛殿外石阶两旁的那句古诗“明月松间照，清泉石上流”，现在依然在那里。

走出寺庙恰好是12点，寺庙附近的凤凰湖畔燃起了好多烟花。在寺庙门外附近的瀑布处，我们停下看了好一会儿烟花。走在前往山门的大道上，两侧的熟悉的旅店、饭店、商店外都在燃放烟花爆竹。 一切仿佛回到我孩童时在这里度过的那几年时光……

光阴似箭！时间流逝的力量异常强大。对于我，现在尤其该去做的，就是去实现自己儿时的梦想。抓紧每一分每一秒。

今天上午去买火车票，本想买初八的，但是那里初五到初八的车票都已经卖完了，最后买到的只是初四也就是12号的车票。这样也好，早点回到学校早点开始安排自己今年的计划。

Introduction to Algorithms

When I came back, I brought only one book, i.e. Introduction to Algorithms. I wanted to read through it during the Spring Festival. This was a good chance for me to study it. It was so thick more than 1000 pages.

This morning, I was free in my room. I began to read it. When I stopped I found there was about 15 pages I had read. I believed that I liked to read it. It was so nice a book.

I have the confidence for stuftying through it in this Spring Festival.

表哥的婚礼

很就没有参加过别人的婚礼了。前两天到表哥家参加了婚礼。

表哥在重庆的一个高中里面当一个历史老师，表嫂是表哥中学附近一个小学的音乐老师。他们的婚礼在重庆已经举行过一次了。这次的婚礼是是表哥家里举行的。

一切都是那么熟悉又是那么的陌生。这种婚礼的形式和城市里面的不一样。这里的婚礼有着很强的地方特色。婚礼共举行两天。第一天是一些附近的亲朋好友来参加，仪式就是一些简单的吃饭。当天晚上新郎官会在家里的堂屋里面戴上舅舅们送来的帽子和红绸，接受亲戚们的祝福。晚饭过后还会燃放那种非常复杂工艺下制作出来的爆竹烟花。

正式的仪式是在第二天的中午。男方会组成一个亲友团敲锣打鼓的到女方家接新娘。接回家后需要在12点进入堂屋，然后直系亲属们需要给新人们送上一点象征性的拜钱。最后也就是电视上经常看到的那种古代的拜天地进洞房了。

表哥整天都笑着，煞是高兴！

一次看到这么多的亲友我也是非常的高兴。
