Extensive reading

When we began to study English, our teacher told us that we should read more and more. At then, I could not understand teacher's word clearly. I believed that it was enough for us to read our text books.

Simply, who was my model of English studying, read so much. I often saw her with a English reading material.

These days I had been reading some books. They were about XML, Web Information Mining, Data Warehours and data mining, some papers about web knowledge acquisition. I found out that they were some universality between them.

It was interesting for me. Reading more and thinking more, then we could be with more innovation. I believed so.

XML studying

One of my recent tasks is studying XML and constuct a uniform representation for the text of NLP. There were two books on my table. After reading some content and searching some related material, I began to feel at a loss. Because there were so many material that could be consulted.

The main goal, I believed, could be a DTD or schema file for our representation. I should learn more and practise more.

Personal Management

Who is your life's manager? I believe the answer is yourself.

I had used OUTLOOK for my personal nice assistant for a long time. After mined the task management function of OUTLOOK 2003, I began to use the calendar and task manager for my personal tasks management.

From this afternoon, I began to organize all my tasks into OUTLOOK. It was a tired process. But I knew that sharpening your axe will not delay your job of cutting wood. I planed to check the everyday tasks for the next day in the evening and carried out it during the next day.

This was a more convinent process for my personal management. Before I took part in our lab, I used to use some simple notebook for personal management. That was little tiring. Right now, it was changed a lot. Good enough!

A Friend is....

Lantern festival dumplings

Today is the traditional Chinese festival day, i.e. Lantern festival dumplings. It's the birthday of Carl. It's also the first day of Chen Yiheng's Ph.D. candidate. So many good things! we all were very happy.

This evening, when it was 6:00, we all got together at Taifeng Hotel. After the dinner, some of us went to have songs, Gold, Zuoran and me came to play billiards. Gold and Zuoran played very good.

Three nice courses!

We have three new courses today. They are UNIX operating system design, Database Warehouse and data mining, Artificial neural network. They are nice to us.

To UNIX operarting system design, Prof. Liao Minghong gave us a short introduction about the UNIX development and told us the basic content of this course based on the operating system functions. It was interesting. Although I had not selected it, I would like to learn it.

The teacher of Database Warehouse and data mining is Mrs. Gao Hong, who is a member of database laboratory. Her first lesson was interesting also. But the slides were not gotten.

Prof. Li Haifeng was the teacher of Artificial neural network. I had known something about ANN. But there were many new knowledge of his lesson to me. He introduced much about the neural system and the development of ANN.
